Letting "I dare not" wait upon "I would"

Look up "fossa" on Google Images and thank me later.

And yet I love Top Gear.  What's up with that?

Common misconceptions

1. "She gets good grades and answers questions in class.  She must be elitist/brilliant/not-understanding-of-my-less-than-stellar-grades."
2. "She doesn't talk to me.  She must think she's better than me/be boring/hate me/not care about me."

The Truth
1. I so don't care what grades you get, and am not any smarter than you.
2. I'm shy.

(no subject)

It was be the awesome to be in the studio audience for either Whose Line or QI.  Too bad Whose Line has stopped filming and QI is in England.

Strange happenings

I was in Illinois in a hotel, and I was watching Animal Planet.  There was a documentary about Irish setters.  The narrator sounded exactly like Evan, especially when he said "America".  It was bizarre and I couldn't stop watching, despite the fact that I was late for breakfast.

Uh oh

That last entry did make me sound awfully ditzy, didn't it?  I apologize.

I can't decide!

Duffel coat or pea jacket?  They're both so adorable that I can't decide.  Oddly enough, they're both related to the navy.  Duffel coats were apparently a staple of the British navy, and pea jackets were favored by its US counterpart.  Of course, that's enough to give me a bit of a bias, but I honestly can't decide between the two coats.

I am currently watching Jonathan Creek (with Alan Davies, who has to be one of the world's most adorable people) and having a fabulous time of it.  That's what happens when you finish your homework at 1:00; you can enjoy yourself.  Interesting, isn't it?

I still have to wrap Katherine's birthday present, though, and make her card, but that can wait till later.

When my mom gets back from seeing a movie with her friends, we might go to the bookstore.  And since I recently realized that I have something ridiculous like $80 just sort of hanging around with nothing to do, I might just buy a book.

And I'm going to ask for a pea coat for Hanukkah because they are pretty and I want one and I don't want to spend my own money buying one.

So I'm generally pretty excited about today's prospects.  But now I'm going to take a shower and wait for the rest of this episode to load.

Just saying...

House/Cuddy.  Eew.

In other news, I have far too much homework to be posting right now.  But I really don't want to continue my Spanish article about the arrest of the central figures of a drug ring in Mexico.  I would rather be:

-reading the book I got out of the library, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, which promises to be really fabulously good.  The first novel I've read in ages, I think.  Too busy reading non-fiction and the America book and my stupid US History textbook.
-watching the movie I got out of the library, Ana y los otros, which sounds good.  I am eager to see if I can understand it with Spanish subtitles only.
-watching British comedy.
-doing just about anything.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid homework.  You prevent me from doing anything worthwhile with my life.  Shouldn't school be enabling me to do something worthwhile?  Apparently not.

My hair

I have had my hair cut short.  Know now so you aren't shocked later and say something dumb like, "Wow!  Your hair is short!"  It is fine for most people to say that, but if you are my LJ friend, I expect you to know better.  If you remark that my hair is short and I know you have read this entry, I will reply sarcastically.  Be warned.
